Set in a historic leafy green garden suburb situated 7km’s from the city this Exceeding Service provides exceptional child care that is accessible for families living or commuting through the nearby suburbs of Westbourne Park, Lower Mitcham, Colonel Light Gardens and Daw Park.

This all embracing service wholeheartedly believes in creating connections within the wider community. Connections which benefit society as a whole by creating a network of unity and support. By planning and enacting real-life activities; this helps to develop children’s awareness of their social responsibility as a member of the broader community. 

The role of the educational leader is primarily to 

  • collaborate with educators and provide curriculum direction and guidance
  • support educators to effectively implement the cycle of planning to enhance programs and practices
  • lead the development and implementation of an effective educational program in the service
  • ensure that children’s learning and development are guided by the learning outcomes of the approved learning frameworks. 

The educational leader also has a significant role in 

  • guiding and developing educators and families’ understandings about play and leisure-based learning, and the significance of the early years in the education continuum for children
  • building the knowledge, skills and professionalism of educators
  • building a culture of professional inquiry with educators, coordinators and staff members to develop professional knowledge, reflect on practice and generate new ideas.  

About You

Are you able to build rapport easily with children and families? You will be able to hone your skills in this service that prides itself on strong foundations of communication and respect. You will need to be able to take on challenges and be proactive in problem solving, risk assessment and adhering to compliance.

Successful candidate will have

  • Hold a minimum Diploma of Early Childhood and Care or ACECQA recognised equivalent 
  • Current Working with Children Check (state specific), 
  • Current National Police Clearance/Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Current approved First Aid Certificate
  • Current approved Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate
  • Sound understanding of the developmental needs of children aged between 0 & 5 years of age
  • Sound knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the National Quality Framework (NQF) and the National Quality Standards (NQS)
  • Effective communication skills – with families, staff and children
  • Effective programming skills
  • Exemplary customer service skills
