This year’s World Diabetes Day theme is “Access to Diabetes Care”.
Today, approximately 537 million people worldwide live with diabetes, according to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the number is expected to rise to above 700 million by 2040
WDD is the world’s largest diabetes awareness campaign reaching a global audience of over 1 billion people in more than 160 countries The campaign draws attention to the obstacles to expanding access to diabetes medications and care.
In 2022, the campaign focuses on the need for better access to quality diabetes education for healthcare professionals and people living with diabetes.
How everyone can support this cause:
· Share a blue circle selfie: take a photo with the diabetes blue circle and share your diabetes story online.
· EXERCISE IN BLUE
Regular physical activity is an important part of diabetes management and reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes. Whether indoors or outdoors, every step counts to help
· SUPPORT WDD ONLINE. The official hashtags of World Diabetes Day 2022 are #WorldDiabetesDay and #EducationToProtect.
